COP 29 in Baku demonstrates the value of Venice’s climate resilience

Baku, Pierpaolo Campostrini, Director General of CORILA and Scientific Coordinator for the Venice World Capital of Sustainability Foundation, is participating in COP 29 in Baku and will be a speaker in four important meetings, bringing the experience and strategies developed in Venice in the context of European research and adaptation to climate change and urban resilience.

On 20 November at COP 29, the event “The Venice paradigm: strategies for adaptation to sea level rise and disaster risk reduction” will take place, organized by the Venice World Capital of Sustainability Foundation at the Italian Pavilion. The event illustrates the paradigm shift that is transforming Venice, recently named Resilience Hub by the UNDRR (United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction). Speakers will include Alessandro Costa, DG of VSF, Pierpaolo Campostrini, General Director of CORILA and Scientific Coordinator of VSF, Francesco Musco, Director of Research at the IUAV University of Venice, Animesh Kumar, Head of Bonn Office, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Alessandra Antonini, European Committee of the Regions – CoR, and Andrew Potts, Advisor for Heritage and Climate Action at Europa Nostra. From a city to be protected to an international model of adaptation, Venice is now a laboratory of innovation for climate strategies aimed at protecting environmental and cultural heritage.
