in memory of Professor Guido Biscontin

CORILA expresses a heartfelt and profound regret for the death of prof. Guido Biscontin.

Prof. Guido Biscontin

Former professor of Restoration Chemistry at the Ca 'Foscari University of Venice and at the IUAV University of Venice, he was one of the leading Italian and international experts in the field of diagnostics and conservation of Cultural Heritage. Between 2000 and 2010 he directed important CORILA research on the knowledge and protection of Venetian architecture, in particular on the "foundation poles" of buildings, which was attended by professors and researchers of Ca 'Foscari, of the University of Padua, of the CNR IVALSA Institute of Florence, and officials and experts of the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Venice and the lagoon.

These researches have produced significant scientific, operational and experimental progress in the physical, chemical and structural knowledge of the basement element of buildings and churches, which in the past has been little studied in an organic and interdisciplinary manner. Inspired by his example, we will continue to work to safeguard the cultural heritage of Venice, feeling accompanied by his great intelligence, competence, sensitivity and availability. At this link a short video, one of his many contributions.
