THE STAFF OF CORILA

Director

Pierpaolo Campostrini

Born in Venice, 1960.
Degree in Electrical engineering, followed by a diploma in Plasma engineering and controlled thermo-nuclear fusion, both at the University of Padua.
From 1985 to 1998 CNR researcher in the RFX project, an important experiment on fusion carried out in Padua by an association between University, ENEA and CNR and supported by EURATOM with an investment of over 150 billion lire.
His diverse roles in the project included electromagnetic planning and following various important contracts of the execution of components by leading European companies. He is now in charge of the Calculation System of the project, the acquisition and processing of the data.
The RFX project is, as is all research on fusion, integrated at an international level and this allows frequent meetings and scientific exchanges, in particular with European and American laboratories with whom he has carried out successful experiments.
At the moment he is also teaching at the Universities of Padua and Udine.
He has published numerous works, mainly abroad.
From 1998-99 he worked for Thetis S.p.A, a Venetian company located in the Arsenale and was in charge of projects. He took part in the execution of the company’s technological projects in the area and coordinated European projects.
He has been the director of CORILA since January 2000..

She received her degree on April 10, 2000 in Environmental science at Ca’Foscari with the thesis “Intake of nutrients and metals from the drainage basin in the Venice Lagoon; contribution of the lower basin of the Trezze”, at the Venice CNR-ISDGM as part of the project DRAIN (“Determination of the contribution of pollutants of the drainage basin”) under Prof. A. Marcomini. She continued to collaborate with the Venice CNR on the project DRAIN from April to June 2000.
In the Research Programme 2000-2004 she supports the research group, line 3.3 (quantity and quality of exchanges between the Lagoon and sea) and line 3.6 (biodiversity in the Venice Lagoon).

Simona Dalla Riva

Born November 13, 1973 in Genoa. In 1998 she received her degree in Environmental Science at the University of Genoa, Italy with the experimental thesis “Development of a Specimen Bank for biomonitoring the quality of the Antarctic Environment”, and in 2002 she obtained her PhD degree in Polar Science at the University of Siena, Italy with the thesis “Transport and distribution of contaminants in the Antarctic Environment, using biomonitors” in the framework of the Antarctic National Research Programme. She collaborated with the University of Genoa doing research in the analytical environmental chemistry of the Antarctic coastal marine ecosystem, attending four Antarctic Expeditions, and in 2004 she worked for six months in New Zealand at the, widening her knowledge in the environmental marine science, researching on heavy metal speciation, sediment contamination, and marine ecosystem biomonitoring. From July 2005 she works at CORILA. She supported the CORILA projects on speciation and flow of pollutants, groundwater flows in the lagoon system, meteo-oceanographic conditions, coastal zone water quality, Interreg and European Projects.
