La Pianificazione dello Spazio Marittimo nel Mar Mediterraneo

With the adoption of the EU Directive on Maritime Spatial Planning (2014/89/EU), EU Member States are required to prepare maritime spatial plans by 2021. Plans shall take into consideration relevant interactions between maritime uses to balance demand for development with the need to protect marine ecosystems and to achieve social and economic objectives in a transparent and planned way.

Member States bordering the Mediterranean Sea are developing MSP process according to the requirements of the Directive and are taking part to pilot projects on MSP in the Mediterranean founded by DG MARE with the aim of initiate a successful cooperation at sea-basin level.

CORILA, together with University IUAV of Venice and ISMAR-CNR, takes part to both on-going projects founded by DG MARE for the implementation of EU Directive on MSP in the Mediterranean: SUPREME for the Eastern Mediterranean (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Greece), coordinated by CORILA, and SIMWESTMED for the Western Mediterranean (France, Spain, Italy and Malta).

In addition, CORILA is partner of PORTODIMARE project, co-founded by INTERREG ADRION program and leaded by Emilia Romagna Region. PORTODIMARE has the objective to create a common platform (geoportal) which will provide access to informations, data and tools useful to support theimplementation of the Protocol onIntegrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and the Directive on Maritime Spatial Planning.

CORILA projects and activities on MSP

SUPREME - SUpporting maritime spatial Planning in the Eastern Mediterranean

(January 2017- December 2018)

The project co-founded by DG MARE , trough the EASME Agency, is coordinated by CORILA. SUPREME focuses on two key objectives: to support the implementation of Maritime Spatial Planning (Directive 2014/89/EU) in the EU Member States of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and to launch and carry out cross-border MSP initiatives at sea basin level.

SIMWESTMED - Supporting Implementation of Maritime Spatial Planning in the Western Mediterranean Sea

(January 2017- December 2018) 

The project co-founded by DG MARE, trough the EASME Agency, is coordinated by the French Hydrographic Office (SHOM). SIMWESTMED focuses on two key objectives: to support the implementation of Maritime Spatial Planning (Directive 2014/89/EU) in the EU Member States of the Western Mediterranean Sea and to launch and carry out cross-border MSP initiatives at sea basin level.

PORTODIMARE  - geoPORtal of TOols & Data for sustaInable Management of coAstal and maRine Environment

(February 2018 - January 2020)

The project, co- founded by the Interreg Adrion programme, aims to create a common platform (geoportal) which will provide access to informations, data and tools useful to support theimplementation of ICZM and MSP in the Adriatic- Ionian Region (EUSAIR).

ADRIPLAN Data Portal

The data portal has been developed within the ADRIPLAN Project (Developing a Maritime Spatial Plan for the Adriatic Ionian Region) and further implemented in the framework of national (RITMARE) and European (PORTODIMARE, SUPREME, SIMWESTMED) projects.

ERASMUS MUNDUS MASTER COURSE ON MSP

The Joint Master Course on Maritime Spatial Planning is a two-years advanced professional master program, organized by the University IUAV of Venice in cooperation with the University of Seville an the University of Azores. CORILA is associated member and hosted students of the master in its offices for an internship.
